“The goal is to ignite yourself. Live beyond sitting behind your notes. Get around, get to know people. Jump around and enjoy life.” – Dr. Randall Sampson
For the past couple of years I’ve been a live reporter at ISTE and for 2 years interviewed folks with my toddler, Savvy. This year I am attending the amazing ISTE conference virtually thanks to #PasstheScopeEDU and the #NOTatISTE19 team! Each day I will embed presentations or interviews that made an impression on me or share some exciting tweets and education technology news. Below I have embedded Valerie Lewis’ recording of Dr. Randall Sampson’s Ignite talk from the Badge Summit pre-ISTE conference event. Dr. Randall Sampson shared a powerful and fun message about capturing, curating, and sharing. One of his most powerful moments is when he shared, “There are 7 billion people in the world but only one you. Your set of eyes, your experience. Share it with the world. Don’t be ashamed.” His talk was so engaging that he got the audience of educators to dance to the song, Jump Around, by House of Pain. After the dancing he closed powerfully encouraging us not to be a passive consumer at conferences, but to ignite ourselves to jump around and get to know people and record how crazy we are about the learning we are consuming.
