Every Student Deserves a Hero Moment

2 min read

“I believe there’s a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble….” – May Parker, Spider-Man II

Every student should experience a hero moment when they are challenged to accomplish a grand feat to improve the lives of others. All students should be presented with missions that require them to be brave and step out of their comfort zones in order for them to build resilience. This is especially important for our learners growing up in a digital world where they are consistently pressured to make bad choices. Throughout their lives, our students will battle with balancing their time spent on social media, cyberbullying, spreading fake news, sharing personal information, and posting pictures of themselves they might not be comfortable with. Our students need to find the strength to act nobly and use technology to make a positive impact on the world.
In my book, Hacking Digital Learning Strategies: 10 Ways to Launch EdTech Missions in Your Classroom, I introduce mission minded learning. Students are presented with a choice of digital missions with real world impact instead of typical homework or tasks. Check out the book and get your students started completing missions this year!
